Essential Supplies Needed For Dominica

Assalamu Aalaykum, We had a meeting after Jumah prayer (29th, September 2017) and the information we received from the Prime Minister is that the country would need food supplies for the next 3 to 6 months. Based on that we decided that the following items would be of priority for the community in the relief and Aid support:

  • Flash lights / Candles / Solar Lamps
  • Soaps / Detergent / Bathing Soap
  • Feminine Care Products
  • Diapers: (More in sizes 3 & 4 ) less in size 5
  • Baby Formula: 6 to 12 months & 1 to 3 years.
  • Canned Stuff: Corn, Mixed Vegetables, Peas etc)
  • Beans (Lentils, Black Eye, Kidney, etc)
  • Cereals (Oats, Cornflakes etc)
  • Crackers
  • Cream of wheat
  • Flour
  • Cooking Oil
  • Cheese
  • Sanitary Wipes
  • Canned Tuna
  • Powdered Milk
  • Toothpaste
  • Matches / Lighters
  • Butter
  • Sardines
  • Cornmeal
  • Rice
  • Soya Chunks
  • Mackerel
  • Toilet Paper
  • Batteries (AA, AAA)
  • Tooth Brushes
  • Plastic Bags
  • Potatoes
  • Box Juices
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Bottled Water
  • Salt
  • Napkins
  • Disinfectants
  • Garbage Bags
  • Candles

We got two generators from Grenada, we put one each at Roseau and Portsmouth masjid. However, we will need at least 20 to 25 additional generators 220 volts (preferably diesel ones).

So what we asking any community, organization or individuals that would like to contribute to the relief effort that they should first communicate with us to determine if we have too many of the same items. We don’t want to end with similar products from different sources.

    Asaalam Alyqum,
So glad to see AID has reached the island. Your video about your situation has gone viral – I saw it in the UK via a friend. We are making dua for all of you. Do you still need AID?

    • Abdullah

Ofcourse they need AID, I think it’s going to take another 2-3 years for the island to get back on its feet – remember this island heavily depends on tourism and agriculture – these industries have been destroyed.

I Think the responsible thing would be to contact them directly or wait for a news update on what they need! I heard a lot of the AID got looted.

Assalamu Aalaykum my brothers and sisters in Dominica – It’s with a heavy heart to see what has happened, but we know its a test from Allah, May Allah use it as a means of expiating your sins and grant you ease in this life and next. Remain steadfast, our duas are with you, we have already sent $$$ from the U.S.A, and will continue to monitor your progress.

    As-salāmu ʿAlaykum Wa-Raḥmatu Llāhi Wa-Barakātuhu,

Just came across this post, and wanted to share. I hope by now the community is back on its feet. We in Canada still want to send some relief supplies (there is never enough, more can and should always be done). Is there any news about the Indigenous people, I heard their masjid was completely destroyed. Can you give some updates on this please.

    Jazāk Allāhu Khayran

      اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُم وَرَحْمَةُ اَللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ

Alhamdulillah the situation is improving, The Carib Territory’s masjid was completely destroyed, and literally, nothing was left of the building. We have received pledges from various individuals and organizations to rebuild the masjid – and we are still seeking committed and immediate AID in this regard.

      Jazāk Allāhu Khayran
