Funeral Janazah Burial

The Muslim Community of Dominica (MCD) provides bathing, shrouding and burial services for the local community, and works in partnership with the local authority, the health authority and the coroner’s office to ensure services meet the needs of the Muslim community at such a difficult time, If you are in need of funeral assistance or anticipate the need for funeral services you should contact an elder member of the community at the earliest possible opportunity. This is so they can help with all processes, and not merely the burial.

Once the body of the deceased is ready for release from the facility where it is being held, the imam will coordinate with other members to do the following:

• Transport the deceased to Masjid
• Make arrangements for bathing and shrouding the body (ghusl and takfeen)
• Make arrangements for the burial
• Coordinate the funeral prayer
• Transport the deceased to the cemetery
