A person does not convert to Islam but rather reverts to it as all are born Muslim at birth. In order to revert, a person must testify that there is nothing or no one worthy of being worshiped, except for God, and that Muhammad is His final messenger.
In Arabic, this statement is “Laa ilaaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasool Allah.” This declaration is the first pillar of Islam (See: Five Pillars of Islam), which makes a person a Muslim.
People think they can’t become Muslim if they; have a wild or dangerous past, are single parents, are illiterate, are too young or old child and various other reasons. You will notice the change in the way you look at things, the minute you become a Muslim. You will feel more relieved and secure only to think that you are fulfilling the orders of Allah. Doing this, you will clearly see the benefits of it for yourself and for mankind.
In Dominica, you can embrace Islam at any of the Mosques. This is only a formality. Once you say and believe in the Oneness of Allah and in the message of his Prophet Mohammad, then you are a Muslim.
